About B. P Baria Science Institute
In 1856, Sir Cavasji Jehangirji laid the foundation of C.J.N.Z. Madresa School trust and under the guidance of this trust, Sorabji Barjorji Garda College trust was established in 1945. Shri Barjorji Pestonji Baria took the initiative to start the science faculty in 1946 at a time when there were no other institutions offering higher education in science in our region. Late in the year 1965, the science college was separated and was named B. P. Baria Science Institute. Our college is permanently affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and is recognized under Sections 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Acts of 1956. The college offers UG programme in five subjects of science viz. Microbiology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Zoology.
Ours is a co-educational institution and admissions are given on the basis of academic record in the qualifying examination and for the specified number of seats in each subject. We usually try to admit as many students as our infrastructure could accommodate. The college at present does not offer any self-financing programme. The college follows the semester system. Since ours is an affiliated institution, we follow the syllabus as prescribed by the VNSGU.
