About Mejia Govt College
Kabi Jagadram Roy Government General Degree College, Mejia [erstwhile Government General Degree College at Mejia (Gopalpur)] was established in the year of 2015, by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, along with twenty other new Government General Degree Colleges in the state. The College began its journey with the noble vision of propagating quality Higher Education. Initially the college was affiliated to the University of Burdwan. However, since 2017, it is affiliated to the Bankura University and the students are being taught in the three year six-semester Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The College offers the undergraduate courses in all the three basic disciplines- Arts, Science, and Commerce with five subjects as B.A. Honours (Bengali, English, History, Philosophy and Economics) and one subject each in B.Sc. Honours (Geology) and B.Com Honours (Accountancy). It is the only institution under the Bankura University, which offers Geology as an Honours subject. All the faculties of this college, apart from their normal duties, are involved in different research activities to improve their own knowledge and academic excellence in accordance with the spirit of higher education. They are always keen to maintain the standard education as well as holding up to the administrative set up of the college. The college is always involved in different community activities such as gender sensitization programme, literacy drive, safe drive-save life and so on for the betterment of society.
