About Moridhal College
Moridhal College, a premier higher education institution is situated in Moridhal, Dhemaji a vast rural area lying on the border between the state of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and is dwelt in by people of diverse caste, communities, tribes and ethnic groups who have their own distinct cultural traditions, religions and languages.
Moridhal College is a co-education institution initially started with Arts Stream only and subsequently, Science Stream was too introduced to cater the needs of Science education of the area. In consideration to the backwardness of the area in the Socio-economic and educational sphere and a considerable number of students being deprived of higher education for financial constraints, the local public, the parents and the few educationists of the area conceived of the idea of setting up this institution at Moridhal. At their great endeavour and tireless efforts under the leadership of Dr. Kamal Gogoi, the founder principal along with profound support of the teachers who volunteered to work under the ordeal circumstances, Moridhal College with Arts Stream at under graduate level was established in the year 1988. From its inception in 1988, the college has been assiduously rendering service in imparting higher education at undergraduate level and devotedly working for the all round development of its students along with community service as expected of higher education institute.
The active involvement of the college in disseminating knowledge and sincere performance within its precinct pleased Dibrugarh University to extend affiliation in the year 1992. In the time to come, the college obtained 2f in 08-08-1998 and 12B of UGC in 04-04-2000. The college could make one epoach-making leap ahead by shaking off the shackle and retardation of venture stage when the college deserved to be brought under Grant-in –Aid system in 1998. However, later on the Government of Assam brought the Colleges of the state under provincialisation Act. As such, today Moridhal College stands as one of the leading provincialised college under Dibrugarh University of Assam.
