Tarakeswar Degree College was established on 5th September, 1986. The college was initially built on 3.5 acres of land that was donated by His Holiness Sri Srimat Dandiswami Hrishikesh Ashram Mahanta Maharaj of Tarakeswar Math. Additionally, generous help and kind support from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Sri Anil Basu and Hon’ble Minister of Fire & Emergency Services Department, Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Pratim Chatterjee, Sri Shankar Ray Chowdhury, Ex-General of Army & Member of Rajya Sabha from their Local Area Development Funds has been instrumental in shaping the college.
A relatively new academic institute, Tarakeswar Degree College has evolved as one of the best undergrad colleges in the district.
