നളിനിയുടെ കളിത്തോഴനായിരുന്ന ദിവാകരൻ യൗവനാരംഭത്തിൽ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടുപോയി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അഭാവത്തിലും നളിനി ദിവാകരനെ ജീവതേശനായിക്കരുതി ആരാധിച്ചു. യൗവനയുക്തയായ മകളെ വിവാഹബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടുത്താൻ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. തന്റെ വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ടതറിഞ്ഞ നളിനി തോഴിമാരോടുപോലും ആലോചിക്കാതെ വീടുവിട്ടിറങ്ങുകയും ആത്മഹത്യയ്ക്കു മുതിരുകയും ചെയ്തു. ജലപ്പരപ്പിലേക്കു കുതിച്ച അവളെ ഒരു താപസി രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി. ആ യോഗിനിയുടെ സംരക്ഷണയിൽ അഞ്ചു വർഷക്കാലം അവൾ ആ ആശ്രമത്തിൽ നിഷ്ഠയോടെ വസിച്ചു.

അനന്തരം ഒരു സുപ്രഭാതത്തിൽ, ഹിമവൽസാനുവിൽ വച്ച് കാഷായവേഷധാരിയായൊരു യോഗിയായി അവൾ ദിവാകരനെ കണ്ടെത്തി. പരസ്പരം മനസ്സിലാക്കിയശേഷം നളിനിയുടെ നിയമനിഷ്ഠയിൽ സന്തുഷ്ടനായ യോഗിവര്യൻ അവളെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു യാത്രയാകാൻ ഒരുമ്പെട്ടു. തത്ക്ഷണം പതിപ്രേമനിഷ്ഠയായ അവൾ 'ദൃഢമിപ്പദാംബുജത്തിന്റെ സീമയിതു പോകിലില്ല ഞാൻ' എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാല്ക്കൽ സ്വയം സമർപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ ആ യോഗിവര്യന് അവളോട് കാരുണ്യമുണ്ടാവുകയും, മഹാവാക്യതത്ത്വം അവൾക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പരമമായ ബ്രഹ്മാനന്ദാനുഭൂതിയിൽ ലയിച്ച അവളിൽ നിന്ന് ഓം എന്ന നാദവൈഖരിക്കൊപ്പം ഒരു ധാമവും മിന്നൽപോലെ വേർപെട്ടുപോയി. 'പട്ടിടഞ്ഞതനുതന്റെ മേനിവേർപെട്ടിടാഞ്ഞത്' യോഗി അറിയുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Divakaran, Nalini's playmate, left home in her early teens. Even in his absence, Nalini Divakaran was worshiped as a living being. The parents decided to marry off their teenage daughter. When Nalini found out that her marriage was scheduled, she left home without even consulting her friends and committed suicide. She was rescued by an ascetic who jumped into the water. She remained faithfully in the monastery for five years under the care of that yogini.

Then one fine morning, at Himavalsanu, she found Divakaran, a yogi dressed in kashaya. After getting to know each other, Yogivaryan was happy with Nalini's lawfulness, blessed her and set off. Instantly in awe, she surrendered herself at his feet, saying, 'I will not go beyond the limits of firmness.' Then the Yogi took pity on her and taught her the great principle. Dissolved in the ultimate bliss of bliss, a dhamma with the tone of Om parted like lightning from her. The yogi came to know that 'the man who has lost his temper has not lost his mane'.
